Well it’s been quite a week within the first 2 days of arriving i had my bike (Kelly) and have met quite a range of people from old friends to new friends but I have been quite slack at getting photo’s thus far but I promise I will start to take more so that there is less writing and more photo’s.
One of the first rides on Kelly was down to Scubanautics in Rockingham to get the battery replaced in my dive computer (a suunto D4i), about a 40 minute ride from where I live with Tin Tin and his about to be wife Lisa (wedding is in a few days). Anyway after a great chat with the local divers there the heat was getting to me a bit so I rode up to the Caltex garage about 40 meters away to get a drink and noticed about 1000 motorcycles across the road. I immediately asked the attendant what was happening and behind me a really nice Kiwi guy (New Zealander like me Perth is full of us) told me that it is a charity ride for abused children. He then told me that him and a bunch of friends were about to go for a ride and asked if I’d like to join which of course I said yes but noticing they were all on Harley’s and Triumph’s and I was on a Japanese sports bike I asked if this was ok which he said of course no problem at all. I was so excited just 3 days in Perth and I was already making new friends and being asked to go for a ride. We rode down to a bar about an hours ride away in Ravenswood called the Thirsty Camel. Once there we had a quite beer then rode back to Perth with everyone splitting off at there closest motorway exit to where they lived and because I lived the furthest away I ended up being the last one left which didn’t bother me at all as I ride alone all the time. Sorry I have no photo’s of this but like I said I will take more in the future.
The following day Cathal and Shelly asked me to the beach with a bunch of there friends where we swam and drank a few beers in the sun. This was another amazing day. The day after that I went to AQWA The Aquarium of Western Australia which was pretty kool except for the touch pool where you are allowed to touch sharks and other marine life which personally I don’t agree with but everyone to there own I guess. Though they do do a lot of good work rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing marine life. The rest of my time here so far has just been me riding my bike all around the place through the city and out into the outback a small bit. In the 6 days I’ve had my bike I’ve done around 1100km of exploring with thousands more to come.
Picture from the hills just out of Perth with the city in the background
Panoramic from the same hills
An Aussie bush toilet
Some awesome architecture in the city
Then just last night i went to ACDC Rock or Bust concert with Cathal and Shelly but that will be my next post maybe tomorrow if i get the time.
